If you wish to enter your tattoo for a competition, You must register at the ticket desk before 4pm each day. You can get registration forms from the ticket desk. Entries cost 500 R's (Paid on submission of entry form)
Tattoo competition categories are-
FRIDAY 17TH JANUARY (Judging Begins at 7pm)
BEST SMALL BLACK & GREY - Any Black & Grey tattoo less than A4 size
BEST NEO TRADITIONAL - Any tattoo done neo trad style.
BEST HEALED TATTOO - Any tattoo done outside the festival and fully healed.
BEST NEW SCHOOL / AVANT GARDE - Any tattoo, modern in style that doesn't fit in any other category
BEST OF FRIDAY - Any tattoo started and finished on Friday at the Goa Tattoo Festival. Winner automatically entered into 'Best Of Show' competition
SATURDAY 18TH JANUARY (Judging begins at 7pm)
BEST SMALL COLOUR - Any colour Tattoo less than A4 size
BEST TRADITIONAL (EASTERN) - Any tattoo reflecting Eastern traditional art, Gods, myths and legends.
BEST TRIBAL / BLACKWORK / GEOMETRIC - Any blackwork tattoo in the style, patterns, tribal, ethnic & geometry
BEST REALISM - Any photo or hyper realistic tattoo
BEST OF SATURDAY - Any Tattoo started and finished on Saturday at the Goa Tattoo Festival. Winner automatically entered into 'Best Of Show' competition
SUNDAY 19TH JANUARY (Judging begins at 7pm)
BEST LARGE BLACK & GREY - Any Black & Grey tattoo larger than A4 size
BEST LARGE COLOUR - Any colour tattoo larger than A4 size
BEST OF SHOW - Any tattoo started and finished at the festival.

ALL ENTRIES MUST BE TATTOOS STARTED AND FINISHED AT THE FESTIVAL WITH THE EXCEPTION OF "BEST HEALED TATTOO" CATEGORY WHICH CAN BE ANY TATTOO DONE OUTSIDE THE FESTIVAL.
Category entry: Each tattoo can only be entered into a maximum of 2 categories over the weekend (with the exception of BEST OF SHOW)
Best Of Day Competitions: These tattoos MUST be started and finished at the show, on the day of entry.
Tattoos done over more than one day DO NOT qualify for this competition. If a tattoo does not meet these guidelines, it will be eliminated from the category.
If you have a tattoo that takes over 1 day to complete, then the only 'Best Of' category you can enter is ‘Best Of Show’.
Style categories such as Eastern Traditional, and Blackwork / Geometric will be judged on style and not content. For instance, you enter Oriental with a tattoo that is Oriental in content (Tigers head, Samurai, Geisha) if it is executed in any other style other than Oriental, it will not qualify.
PRIZES: There is a first prize and runner up 2nd prize only for all categories
JUDGING
The Judging will be performed by 3 independent judges who have have extensive and qualified experience in judging tattoos. Their judgement is final. Judging will be fair as possible. All 3 judges have been instructed to look at the following elements (where applicable) of each tattoo presented, as well as their own personal criterea as to what makes a good tattoo.
Bigger does not necessarily mean better. The execution of the above criterea should win the day!

- Composition
- Readability (How clear the tattoo is in terms of imagery)
- Contrast
- Placement on the body (How it fits the body)
- Linework
- Shading / Colour blending
- Saturation
- Lastability (How will the tattoo look in years to come)
- Originality / Creativity (not a factor in Portrait / Realism category)
- Individual Judges own criterea
